Welcome. I'm Mark Groaning.
They say you have to learn the rules so you know how to break them.
I mostly learned them just enough to do that.
Long before I welded steel or melted glass, I was building sculptures out of duct tape and cardboard—driven by instinct, curiosity, and a need to make something real. Something that meant something.
Over the years, I’ve worked in fire and fragments, rust and reflection.
My art lives somewhere between sculpture and story—objects that feel like they’ve been unearthed from a dream or salvaged from a future we still remember.
I make the kinds of things I’d be excited to stumble across—
even if I wasn’t the one who made them.
Some of those pieces live in the Private Collection section.
Others are still looking for where they belong.
This site is part studio, part story, and part signal flare.
